基本解释《晋书·良吏传·吴隐之》载：隆安中，吴为广州刺史，经石门，“有水名贪泉，饮者怀无厌之欲”，吴“至泉所，酌而饮之，因赋诗：‘古人云此水，一歃怀千金。试使夷齐饮，终当不易心。’”抵任后，吴“清操逾厉”。后遂以“饮泉清节”指廉正清白的节操。

饮泉清节的典故

晋隆安年间，吴隐之担任广州刺史，经过石门贪泉时，当地人告诉他喝了这水就会变得贪婪。吴隐之不信，喝下贪泉水后作诗：“古人云此水，一歃怀千金。试使夷齐饮，终当不易心。”他到任后始终保持清廉的节操。
