前度刘郎的典故

刘禹锡（772-842）是中唐诗人。由于受王叔文“永贞革新”的牵连，公元805年，他被贬往郎州(湖南常州)任司马。九年后，四十多的刘禹锡才被召回长安。听说玄都观的千数桃花，开得很好看，就和朋友去观赏，并写了首《游玄都观》的诗：“紫陌红尘拂面来，无人不道看花回。玄都观里桃千树，尽是刘郎去后栽。”

因为这首诗，他又被贬到播州（贵州遵义）当刺史，后改为连州（广东连县）刺史，又调任夔（音魁）州(四川奉节)、和州（安徽和县），后被解职。十四年后，刘禹锡再度被召回长安。

当年玄都观的热闹已经没有了：千颗桃花荡然无存，只有青苔上几丛菜花在春风中摇曳。

诗人很感慨，又写了首《再游玄都观》：“百亩庭中半是苔，桃花净尽菜花开。种桃道士归何处？前度刘郎今又来！”
