负隅顽抗的典故

战国时，有一年齐国发生饥荒，许多人饿死。孟子的弟子陈臻(zhen)听到这个消息，急忙来找老师，心情沉重他说：“老师，您听说了吗？齐国闹饥荒，人都快饿死了。人都以为老师您会再次劝说齐王，请他打开棠地的谷仓救济百姓。我看不能再这样做了吧。”孟子回答说：“再这样做，我就成为冯妇了。”接着，孟子向陈臻讲述了有关冯妇的故事。冯妇是晋国的猎手，善于和老虎博斗。后来他成为善人，不再打虎了，他的名字也几乎被人们忘掉。有一年，某座山里出现了一只猛虎，常常伤害行人。几个年轻猎人联合起来去打虎，他们把老虎迫至山的深处，老虎背靠着一介山势弯曲险要的地方，面向众人。它瞪圆了眼睛吼叫，没有人敢上前去捕捉。就在这时，冯妇坐车路过这儿。猎手们见了他，都快步上前迎接，请他帮助打虎。冯妇下了车，挽起袖子与老虎搏斗起来；经过一场拼博，终于打死了猛虎，为民除了害。年轻的猎手们高兴地谢他。可是一些读书人却讥笑他。
