我昔读《水经》，曾究湘漓流。源出始安县，阳海山之陬。
涓涓始一脉，觞泛乃为舟。盘盓导东北，水分西岭头。
咫尺同源异千里，北曰湘水南漓水。湘过巴丘入于江，漓至苍梧注郁止。
漓流水弱湘流强，为溯狂波筑铧觜。刊凿灵渠万世功，谁其作者秦臣史。
渠开水似天河倾，因功谋利费经营。续设陡门三十六，堤埒坝蓄如屯兵。
往来自此邀其惠，楚粤舟航咸利济。人工不若天生成，安得移山重叠砌。
乾隆甲戌九月秋，上公抚字忧民忧。羽书络绎檄余往，相度刻日工须鸠。
里粮策马走山麓，先事穷源后修筑。兴安境尽入灵川，攀葛扪萝历幽谷。
一山突起矗大荒，石骨嶙峋百丈强。四围无嶂亦无岫，居民指此即海阳。
山脚嵌空挂钟乳，下有清泉岩口吐。把火直入山腹中，目击潭光彻水府。
神奸物怪不可求，阴森气逼声飕飗。然犀我恐幽明别，邃窦岂堪人久留。
出岩丛棘钩衣裂，老树古藤悬嵽嵲。披寻石壁获二碑，藓蚀苔侵色似铁。
摩挲漫读马陈文，字迹端遒钗脚分。速呼童子扣墨本，天风飒飒飘秋云。
呜呼！烟霞我固有深癖，抉秘搜奇无虚夕。湘漓于此结奇缘，作歌记事镌诸石。

查礼（1716—1783）原名为礼，又名学礼，字恂叔，号俭堂，一号榕巢，又号铁桥，顺天宛平人，清朝大臣。少劬学。乾隆元年，应博学鸿词科，报罢。入赀授户部主事，拣发广西，补庆远同知。举卓异，上命督抚举堪任知府者。巡抚定长、李锡秦先后以礼荐。十八年，擢太平知府，母忧去。服阕，补四川宁远。
