明广东南海人，字子和。弘治九年进士。授南京户部主事，监江北诸仓，清查积年侵羡，得粟十余万石。历户部员外郎、湖州知府、晋广西参政，督粮严法绳奸，境内肃然。后抚云南，镇湖广皆有政绩。官至兵部右侍郎。致仕卒，年八十。有《海语》、《矩洲集》等。
