尾犯·甲辰中秋创作背景
此词作于公元1244年中秋。甲辰年即公元1244年（南宋理宗淳祐四年），根据夏承焘《吴梦窗系年》，当时词人四十五岁，尚在苏州。甲辰年是苏姬离去之年，苏姬去后五月为中秋，故有“影留人去”之语。
尾犯·甲辰中秋鉴赏
“绀海”三句，状中秋节的天气。言傍晚时分，天青色的空中飘飞着几朵白云，很快天色转暗，夜暮中飒飒秋风吹落下井边的桐叶。此所谓“一叶落而知秋至”也。“何处”两句，想象语。此处是说：时在中秋，不知道哪一处楼阁造得最高，能最先被圆月的亮光照到？“江汜冷”三句，写月光。“汜”，即泛；“悰”，快乐也。此言月光照耀得江水像刚清洗过的绡帛一样泛出阵阵冷意，月中嫦娥在中秋佳节也倍觉高兴，将那圆月一再拭拂，使它一尘不染，光照寰宇。“影留”三句，承上启下，转入己的伤别离。此言天上月儿圆，而地上却人分离。惟剩下室中的遗迹尚在。所以圆月虽明亮，可是词人却不愿看到这深夜的明月光从帘隙中透射进来，以免使他看到室中离人的遗物更添悲伤。至末三句，天上地下适成鲜明对比，使人更是倍觉同情词人之生别离。
“竹房”两句，述孤寂。言词人孤身一人在竹屋中深居简出，所以室外的小径，因为无人走动也长出了苔藓。黄昏日斜，独居无聊，惟有仰望碧天，机械地数着朵朵烟霞，打发这无聊的时光。“露蓼”两句，忆年轻时。言词人年轻时候与伊人（即上片“人去”之离人）曾在灵岩山前的采香泾畔相遇，互相认识。“二十五”两句承前，写今之梦境依稀。“二十五”，可解为过去的二十五年时间。词人今年四十五岁，二十五年前刚是二十岁，与上句“年时”（即年轻时候）相吻合。词人说：二十五年过去了，现在我在梦境中已认不清那条两人曾经走过的“屏山”小径了。“醉魂”两句，言己之醉醒两朦胧矣。此言己在过节时，喝得大醉入梦，所以梦中无法认清小径通向哪里，醒后仍醉意熏熏，连满地的桂花都毫不爱惜的践踏过去。

吴文英（约1200～1260），字君特，号梦窗，晚年又号觉翁，四明（今浙江宁波）人。原出翁姓，后出嗣吴氏。与贾似道友善。有《梦窗词集》一部，存词三百四十余首，分四卷本与一卷本。其词作数量丰沃，风格雅致，多酬答、伤时与忆悼之作，号“词中李商隐”。而后世品评却甚有争论。
