译文
一对对燕子，你们什么时候飞回来的？小河两岸的桃树枝条浸在水里，鲜红的桃花已经开放。
下了几天雨，河水涨起来淹没了小桥，人不能过河，正在这时候，一叶小舟从柳阴下缓缓驶出。
注释
湖：指杭州西湖
夹岸：两岸。
蘸（zhàn）水：贴着水面开放。湖中水满，岸边桃树枝条弯下来碰到水面，桃花好像是蘸着水开放。
断桥：指湖水漫过桥面。
度：与“渡”通用，走过。
撑：撑船篙，就是用船篙推船前进。
春游湖鉴赏
燕子来了，象征着春天的来临。诗人遇上了燕子，马上产生了春天到来的喜悦，不禁突然一问：“双飞的燕子啊，你们是几时回来的？”这一问问得很好，从疑问的语气中表达了当时惊讶和喜悦的心情。再放开眼界一看，果然春天来了，湖边的桃花盛开，鲜红似锦。蘸是沾着水面。但桃花不同于柳树，它的枝叶不是丝丝下垂的，是不能蘸水的。因为春天多雨，湖水上升，距花枝更近了。桃花倒影映在水中，波光荡漾，岸上水中的花枝连成一片，远处望见，仿佛蘸水而开，这景色美极了。诗人在漫长的湖堤上游春，许许多多动人的景色迎面而来，诗人只选一处：就在春雨把桥面淹没了的地方。一条小溪上面，平常架着小木桥。雨后水涨，小桥被淹没，走到这里，就过不去了。对称心快意的春游来说，是一个莫大的挫折。可是凑巧得很，柳荫深处，悠悠撑出一只小船来，这就可以租船摆渡，继续游赏了。经过断桥的阻碍，这次春游更富有情趣了。
诗人善于抓住事物的本质来加以表现，通过燕子归来，桃花盛开．描绘出春日湖光美景，通过春雨断桥，小舟摆渡来突出湖水上涨的特点。
这首诗后两句尤为著名。由桥断而见水涨，由舟小而见湖宽。充分体现了中国诗歌艺术的两个重要审美特点：一是写景在秀丽之外须有幽淡之致。桃花开、燕双飞，固然明媚，但无断桥，便少了逸趣；二是以实写虚，虚实相生。小舟撑出柳阴，满湖春色已全然托出。

徐俯（1075～1141）宋代官员，江西派著名诗人之一。字师川，自号东湖居士，原籍洪州分宁（江西修水县）人，后迁居德兴天门村。徐禧之子，黄庭坚之甥。因父死于国事，授通直郎，累官右谏议大夫。绍兴二年（1132），赐进士出身。三年，迁翰林学士，擢端明殿学士，签书枢密院事，官至参知政事。后以事提举洞霄宫。工诗词，著有《东湖集》，不传。
