你守卫在边关，我却在吴地，凉飕飕的西风吹到我身上的时候，我正在为你而担忧。想念你啊！想念你，我寄上一封简短的书信，信中每一行字上都浸透了我的眼泪，当寒气来到你身边的时候，我寄出的寒衣不知收到没有？

妾：旧时女子自称。
吴：指江苏一带。
寄夫鉴赏
此诗突出的特色表现在句法上。全诗四句的句法有一个共同处：每句都包含两层相对或相关的意思。在大致相同的前提下，又有变化。“夫戍边关——妾在吴”，这是由相对的两层意思构成的，即所谓“当句对”的形式。这一对比，就突出了天涯相隔之感。这个开头是单刀直入式的，点明了题意，说明何以要寄衣。下面三句都从这里引起。“西风吹妾——妾忧夫”，秋风吹到少妇身上，照理说应该引起她自己的寒冷之感，但诗句写完“西见吹妾”一层意思后，接下去不写少妇自己的寒冷之感，而是直接写心理活动“妾忧夫”。前后两层意思中有一个小小的跳跃或转折，恰如其分表现出少妇对丈夫体贴入微的心情，十分形象。此句写“寄衣”的直接原因。“一行书信——千行泪”，这句通过“一行”与“千行”的强烈对照，极言纸短情长。“千行泪”包含的感情内容既有深厚的恩爱，又有强烈的哀怨，情绪复杂。此句写出了“寄”什么，不提寒衣是避免与下句重复；同时，写出了寄衣时的内心活动。“寒到君边——衣到无？”这一句用虚拟、想象的问话语气，与前三句又不同，在少妇心目中仿佛严冬正在和寒衣赛跑，而这竞赛的结果对她很关紧要，十分生动地表现出了少妇心中的操心。这样，每一句中都可以划一个破折号，都由两层意思构成，诗的层次就大大丰富了。而同一种句式反复运用，在运用中又略有变化，并不呆板，构成了回环往复、一唱三叹的语气。声调对于诗歌，比较其他体裁的文学作品具有更大意义。所谓“情动于中而发于言，言之不足故嗟叹之，嗟叹之不足故永歌之”，“嗟叹”、“永歌”都是指用声调增加诗歌的感染力。试多咏诵几遍，就不难领悟这种一唱三叹的语气在此诗表情上的作用了。
构成此诗音韵美的另一特点是句中运用复字。近体诗一般是要避免字词的重复。但是，有意识地运用复字，有时能使诗句念起来朗朗上口、动人心弦，造成音乐的美感。如此诗后三句均有复字，而在运用中又有适当变化。第二句两个“妾”字接连出现，前一个“妾”字是第一层意思的结尾，后一个“妾”字则是第二层意思的起始，在全句中，它们是重复，但对相联的两层意思而言，它们又形成“顶针”修辞格，念起来顺溜，有“累累如贯珠”之感，这使那具有跳跃性的前后两层意思通过和谐的音调过渡得十分自然。
而三、四两句重叠在第二、第六字上，这不但是每句中构成“句中对”的因素，而且又是整个一联诗句自然成对的构成因素，从而增加了诗的韵律感，有利于表达那种哀愁、缠绵的深情。
此外，第一人称的表现手法也值得提出。诗中的“妾”（古代女子自我称呼）当然并不等于作者自己。
作者采用第一人称，并完全用内心独白的表现手法，通过寄衣前前后后的一系列心理活动：从念夫，到秋风吹起而忧夫，寄衣时和泪修书，一直到寄衣后的挂念，生动地表达了女主人公的内心世界。此诗通过人物心理活动的直接描写来表现主题，是运用得比较成功的。
